A notable figure in consumer law and medical negligence in India, he adjudicated a wide spectrum of consumer disputes over a decade on the bench: medical negligence, malpractice, medical ethics, and health insurance conflicts. His balanced approach has guided both patients seeking justice and the medical professionals defending their cases.
Dr. S.M. Kantikar holds an MBBS and MD in Pathology from Dr. V.M. Govt. Medical College, Solapur, an LLB from CBR National Law College, Shimoga, and a PhD in Law from NLSIU, Bangalore. He authored approximately 1,000 judgments, primarily on medical negligence and health insurance claims, many of them upheld by the Supreme Court of India.
Medical practice, legal scholarship, and judicial experience combine in his current work as Chairperson of Kantikar MediLaw. He is a resource person for medical law at IIM Ahmedabad and the National Judicial Academy.
